Helen Youngen Memorial Scholarship

Criteria: Applicant must be a graduating senior from Norwayne High School, who has attended Norwayne High School a minimum of 2 years, with a preference to students from the Burbank, Ohio, area who attended elementary school in the Burbank school district. Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited college or university as a full-time student. Must have a minimum 3.00 GPA (on a 4.00 point scale) and have a demonstrated financial need. This is a four-year scholarship so long as the student maintains a
minimum 3.00 GPA in college, remains a full-time student. First preference shall be granted to students who plant to study elementary education.

Criteria: Any high school graduating senior with a current cumulative GPA of 3.60 or better, who is the son, daughter or legal ward of a Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative, Inc. member residing in a home currently served by Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative, Inc. Scholarships based on scholastic record, personal achievement and leadership in school and community activities, and personal interview relating to articulation, communication skills and appearance.

How We Hear Scholarship (Applicants will create an account on Going Merry to complete the application)

Criteria: This scholarship is available to any Wayne County high school senior that plans to pursue a career in education. Preference shall be given to students pursuing a career in audiology or speech-language pathology. This scholarship is provided by Ava Martinez, a 2021 graduate of Dalton High School who has dealt with the challenges of Auditory Processing Disorder throughout her life.

education, or political science. Applicant must have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale during the four years of high school. Norwayne applicants must have attended at least one year at Norwayne Elementary or Norwayne Middle School.

Merckle Family Scholarship

Criteria: Student must have maintained a “C” or better scholastic average during their four years of high school, must have attended Norwayne during his/her junior and senior years, and must be a Norwayne graduate. The recipient should have demonstrated financial need and academic potential. Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited program
and use the scholarship no later than one year after it is awarded.
Term: one year and renewable
Amount: Two (2) $2,500 non-renewable scholarships will be awarded to two Norwayne High School graduating seniors intending to pursue any advanced degree. Funding will be given $1,250 per semester and is preferred to be used towards tuition and fees, but
not limited to. One (1) $5,000 non-renewable scholarship will be awarded to a Norwayne High School graduating senior that attended all four years at Norwayne High School, with a preference given to lifetime residents of the NorwayneLocal School
System. Funding will be given $2,500 per semester and is preferred to be used towards tuition and fees, but not limited to. One (1) $10,000 renewable 4-year scholarship(total of $40,000) will be awarded to a Norwayne High School graduating senior intending to pursue a four-year degree on a full time basis. Funding will be given $5,000 per semester and is preferred to be used towards tuition and fees, but not limited to.

Norwayne Athletic Boosters Scholarship

Criteria:  Must be a Norwayne High School graduating Senior during the current academic year and have completed at least one full season in a sport or currently active in a spring sport.  Must be planning to attend a vocational school, community college, or four-year college/university and be enrolled within four to six months of receiving an award.   A $1,000 check will be issued to the recipient upon proof of registration to any qualified institution as listed in Item 2 above.   Proof of registration must be presented to claim the scholarship. The scholarship will be declared null and void if not redeemed by October 1st of the awarded year.  Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 (C average) or greater.  You are not eligible for this scholarship if you were awarded a full scholarship to your academia choice.

Criteria: Student must have a career goal in the oil and natural gas industry, or related energy field. Criteria: Students must reside in an Ohio township and plan to attend a two or four-year college or university. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum ACT of 22 or SAT of 1000. Two types of scholarships are offered: Academic Achievement and Local Government Achievement.
